BIO
Lucas Turturro was born in 1983 in Buenos Aires. He is a film director and visual artist, graduated from the Universidad del Cine.
He directed the feature film "Cómo mueren las reinas" (2021), produced by Aleph Cine. Selected in the official competition of the 24th edition of the Málaga Festival (2021), in the Argentine competition of the 22nd BAFICI (Buenos Aires International Independent Film Festival, 2021), and in the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival, 2019 (WIP Selection).
He wrote and directed the documentary film "Un rey para la Patagonia. Una superproducción subdesarrollada" (2011), winner of a Special Mention from the Jury at the 25th International Mar del Plata Film Festival, Special Mention at the 14th Malaga International Film Festival, and selected by the 35th Montreal World Film Festival among numerous national and international competitions.
In 2017, he premiered his experimental video "Inconsciente", selected at Doc Buenos Aires (Argentina, 2017), 7th American Documentary Film Festival (USA, 2018), CineAutopsia Experimental Film Festival of Bogotá (Colombia, 2017), FEDAXV Experimental Audiovisual Design Festival of Valdivia (Chile, 2017), and IV Sample of Video Art and Experimental Video Intermediations (Colombia).
His video installation "La Sombra Invertida. Inconsciente colectivo del cine" (2014) was supported by the Telefónica Foundation and presented at the Museum of Contemporary Art of Buenos Aires (MACBA, 2016) and the Haroldo Conti Cultural Center, among other spaces. And his video installation "El peso de una piedra" (2017), winner of the 3rd prize at the National Salon of Visual Arts of the Ministry of Culture of the Nation in 2018, is presented at the San Martín Cultural Center, at the TAE Teatro Argentino de la Plata (2018), at the Emilio Caraffa Provincial Museum of Córdoba (2019), and at the Arte x Arte gallery within the framework of the 2019 Sur Biennial.
He directed the documentary series "Los Visuales," "Caudillos," "1945, The World After," and "Detrás de todo encuentro." He was responsible for the artistic area of Canal Encuentro and director of the multimedia space and television channel TEC, under the Ministry of Science, Technology, and Innovation of Argentina.
